review for British Luxury Club, The,70 New Bond Street,London, An update on this place, May, 2008. They have developed the head up bum syndrome. Four weeks ago I had to pay £500 to get in and a table, and yesterday they wanted £800. Pure madness.

Opening over a course of several openings evening late 2007, the British Luxury Club is the brain child of Tony (one of the owners). The concept he explained to me while the club was being built was a simple one – provide the best of whatever they supplied to their customers. To this end the drinks menu consists of top notch champagnes, whiskeys, vodka. They have corporate ties with famous car manufactures, tailors, holiday firms – you name it they are associated with it.

The entrance is not exactly shouting to be noticed, and no doubt that was by design – you certainly wouldn’t want the great unwashed who amble past trying their luck or uglying the queue.

Once you’re in (if you can get in – I hear it is members only, but I went after a late one at the Kingly with some regulars from there and had no problems), you breeze downstairs into a swanky well decorated, minimalist but warm environment. The staff top notch, the clients were fun and a mixed bag of people. This was a Tuesday evening, well 4am Wednesday morning and I left at 6am.

For smokers it is great. Out the back door, up a flight of stairs and they have access to a courtyard. Again, people were very friendly, conversations struck up and new drinking buddies made.

Some other sites state that this will be the new A list haunt, with celebs abound, I hope not to some extent and that they let the regular social butterflies in.

Drink prices, well, what would you expect. About £10 for a cocktail, bottle of veuve £75, so it’s West End London club prices.

The British Luxury Club plays a collection of music (the type of which I wouldn’t have a clue),, areas exist where you can dance, and lots of cozy seats to sit and chat.

Certainly worth a try if you can get in. If not join.

Final Word: It's new, it's hip, it's in fashion - say no more.

+ Strict entry policy
- Could prove tricky to get in or join

Member Pic Arrived around 3am and advised at the door that it was a members only club. It was a Tuesday so we were informed we could go in on the condition that we purchased a bottle of spirits/champagne (minimum £200). We agreed and were accompanied by a hostess to a table where the bottle menu was duly presented to us! Nicely decorated club and good music. Small number of tables occupied though and no hassle by staff which made the occasion much more enjoyable. Guess from other reviews we might not be so lucky next time! Left club at 6am and offered a chaffeured ride back to hotel (which I declined!) Regards W

Member Pic We arrived at the British Luxury Club around 4 am for a quiet drink after working at a charity function. We are television producers. I am a producer/director and I had a Cannes nominated director with me. After being rudely informed it was 'members only' club, we inquired if we could come in anyway, as it was 4 am and the club was closing at 5 am. We were informed that was fine, if we booked a table. We were then informed that the table would cost 750 POUNDS! I was under the impression that extortion in nightclubs was now illegal in the UK but this practice is obviously thriving at the British Luxury Club. After asking to speak the the manager regarding this, we were treated very badly and any objections to this incredibly bad practice were greeted with agression by the thug like door staff. This club is supposed to be one of the best in Mayfair, but t heir treatment of professional people from the media at the door is woeful. Avoid this place like the plague. regards, geoff.
